The Pride of Ilocanos

Kannawidan Ylocos Festival commemorates the founding of the province of Ilocos Sur. It is a month-long festival that takes place from the last week of January to the first week of February. It encourages the younger generation to learn the folk songs and dances of Ilocos Sur.

The Kannawidan Ylocos Festival is a colorful way to commemorate the glorious heritage, culture, and tradition of Kannawidan. It is meant to celebrate the special occasions and feelings in our lives with our loved ones. This festival plays an important role in giving structure to our social lives as well as connecting us to our families and origins. They provide distraction from our day to day, tedious tasks and inspire us to remember the important things and moments in life. This festival was established to pass on legends, knowledge, and traditions to the next generation.

This festival is an important part of our culture. We grew up with this and accepted it as part of our lives. Ilocos Sur is known for the many colorful festivals held throughout the year. Festivals are not only held for culture or religion. They bring people together and create a sense of belonging in the community.
